We confess: In our MöbelFirst office, unfortunately, it sometimes looks similar. Especially in stressful times, the office can get a bit chaotic. But we have recognized this: A well-organized workplace is crucial for our productivity. And - perhaps even more importantly - for our well-being. In our MöbelFirst magazine today, we reveal how you too can create order in your office.
Why is order in the workplace so important?
A messy workplace leads to stress, distraction and wasted time. Efficiency suffers due to the constant search for things. But concentration is also significantly impaired. A well-designed storage system, on the other hand, offers the following advantages:
- Improved productivity: When everything has its place, you can concentrate much better. You are not constantly busy looking for things and are therefore not distracted. In addition, the time saved here should not be underestimated.
- Stress reduction: A tidy environment has a calming effect and helps to reduce stress.
- Professional appearance: Do you often receive guests or customers in your office? Then the office should be in good condition! This not only has a positive effect on visitors. An untidy office simply looks unprofessional.
- Protection of important documents: Not all documents are stored digitally. Some documents must be available as classic printouts. Proper storage protects these documents from loss and damage.
- Optimum use of space: Intelligent storage solutions make optimum use of the available space. This prevents chaos from arising in the first place.
Office storage: your path to success
The first step towards a tidy workplace is definitely clearing out. Duplicate documents, expired calendars, completed to-do lists. All of these can be disposed of. We can say from experience: no one needs more than a handful of pens! Take your time and go through every drawer and folder. Be rigorous and thorough. Also, don't forget that documents can be digitized. Sounds like a lot of effort? Unfortunately, it actually is! But it's worth the effort. Digitizing saves space and time.
As soon as the sorting out is complete, the office organization follows. As a general rule: think ergonomically! Place frequently used items in your immediate working environment. Choose a deskwith drawers or shelves accordingly. All writing utensils and the most important documents can be conveniently stored here. Alternatively, we recommend a mobile pedestal that can be placed under the desk. This can be moved around as required and can therefore be used flexibly. Is your office rather compact? Then a secretary deskis a good solution. It acts as an ideal hybrid between storage furniture and desk. This saves space without compromising on functionality. Secretaries with a closing flap are particularly advantageous. This means that a small mess can be elegantly concealed after work.
You can also use shelvesand cupboards for storage. These are particularly suitable for document folders and books. Be careful with open shelves! Arrange them rather loosely, otherwise you will quickly create the impression of a "wall of files". If you need less storage space, we recommend a chest of drawers. This will also create a storage area that can be used for decoration. Do you need more privacy in your office? Then opt for a lockable filing cabinet! This will ensure that only you have access to certain documents.
Remember: the aim is not to create a sterile, impersonal office. It should be a functional and pleasant working environment. And this in no way excludes decoration! But take a minimalist approach here: Go for selected pieces that perfectly match your furnishing style. You can also use private photos or memorabilia. These give your workplace a personal touch. A pinboard can also serve as decoration. This also creates functional added value. However, make sure that the pinboard is neatly arranged. Messy pinned-up objects make the room look cluttered.
