First edition of a unique piece from Georges Pumpidou's private rooms in the Élysée Palace. Soft organic shapes and firm seating comfort are characteristic of this seating furniture in foam architecture. Various upholstery fabrics and leathers are suitable for this model. Colored wool covers underline the style. D. PUMPKIN is characteristic of the revolutionary style initiated by Pierre Paulin at the end of the 1950s. He liberated the forms of seating furniture by seeing them as independent bodies that did not necessarily have to stand on four feet: an approach that offered unparalleled freedom of form and freed seating furniture from traditional construction and rectangular shapes. By deepening the work of Jean Royère (see his ELEPHANTEAU armchair from 1939 and above all his OURS POLAIRE sofa from 1947), Pierre Paulin designs inviting seating furniture: the shapes are soft, organic, round, well-formed, sensual, ready to welcome the body, which can freely and naturally surrender to them and their contours. With Pierre Paulin, seating adapts and not the other way around. Formally, PUMPKIN is reminiscent of a giant pumpkin with its protective and pleasurable shell. Irresistible!
