Ordered 4 times, 4 times enthusiastically

Petra Gottesmann is a real estate agent and therefore has a soft spot for architecture and interior design. She recently fulfilled a lifelong dream by buying her own finca on Mallorca. And such a beautiful building naturally needs a corresponding inventory.

Mrs. Gottesmann has always been enthusiastic about brand-name furniture, but with the large furnishing requirements in the finca - after all, the property is completely unfurnished at the time of purchase - she pays attention to price differences. Until now, she had generally bought her furniture in the brand-name furniture departments of chain stores. She has never been a keen online shopper. Ms. Gottesmann didn't know that there would now be a concept that would also support small specialist retailers with online sales and create great offers. 

Designer furniture at excellent prices

Until she stumbled across an offer from MöbelFirst while researching online - a chair set with reduced exhibition pieces from the KFF brand. "I was a little skeptical at first, but the large selection of well-known brands and the short delivery times made me curious," explains Petra Gottesmann, who had already paid attention to high-quality furnishings in her previous home in Berchtesgaden. The house on Mallorca was also to feature brand-name furniture, but the style was to be a little more modern. "The furniture fitted in perfectly with the concept and was significantly cheaper than new furniture. So I became curious and started trying to buy furniture online."

She made an inquiry to MöbelFirst. She was particularly interested in the logistics, as the furniture had to be brought to the Germans' favorite island (apart from Sylt), which is almost 2,000 kilometers away. Was that even possible? After a short time, Christoph Ritschel, founder of MöbelFirst and himself a 3rd generation furniture retailer, contacted her. Petra Gottesmann says of the initial contact: "The communication was right straight away. Mr. Ritschel is a brilliant consultant. I'm a rather sober person, but he immediately won my trust. And so I gave it a try."

Fast deliveries abroad too

Everything worked perfectly, the goods arrived at the finca quickly, carefully packaged and delivered on time. The first buyer at the time was kept informed about the status of the order at all times. In retrospect, this was the beginning of an intimate customer relationship.

Because the finca was far from being fully furnished. And so the brand furniture lover clicked through various product categories, compared prices and quickly found what she was looking for. The big advantage: the furniture was in stock as display pieces and individual items on sale and therefore immediately available. After all, the finca shouldn't remain "naked" for long. The shopping cart finally contained a sofa bed, a table and a bed from brands such as Franz Fertig and IP Design. As a high-quality mattress from the house in Berchtesgaden was to be reused, Ms. Gottesmann had questions about the bed, which were answered competently in no time at all. Stylistic sticking points and questions about the materials were also clarified quickly and confidentially, so that Mrs. Gottesmann was able to place the large order worth several thousand euros. Christoph Ritschel then took care of bringing together the goods, which came from various retailers throughout Germany. In cooperation with the Weinmann forwarding company, the furniture was delivered to the address on Mallorca in just one delivery. Something like this only works if the bricks-and-mortar retailers, the online platform and the logistics partners pull together and coordinate with each other on an ongoing basis.

And did something go wrong? A bar stool from another order once had a material defect, causing the furniture to tilt slightly. "I reported the problem and customer service dealt with the matter immediately. Within 48 hours, I received feedback that the manufacturer had sent a new foot to Mallorca," says Petra Gottesmann, pleased with the good service and the speedy problem-solving.

The regular customer would "get carried away again" after the many positive experiences, she says. A few small pieces of furniture are still missing for a complete interior design. When asked whether MöbelFirst could do anything better, the Mallorcan by choice has to think long and hard: "I didn't find what I was looking for in the outdoor furniture section. There could be more on offer there." The MöbelFirst team is taking this to heart and is continuously bringing more retailers onto the platform, which means that the range is growing proportionally - there are currently already 300 retailers throughout Germany selling branded furniture at a discount online via MöbelFirst.

"My husband and I decided to enjoy the Mallorcan sun. MöbelFirst relieved us of many of our furnishing worries and was a great partner during the move-in phase. That made our start here a lot easier," comments Petra Gottesmann. And so it is probably only a matter of time before the sixth order comes from the Balearics.
