Loft furnishings: industrial style with lots of charm

The loft: an apartment with lots of character. As former storage rooms, these apartments usually have very high ceilings, old wooden floors and sometimes a few crossbeams. This type of apartment also benefits from the open-plan living concept, which can be easily implemented within the four walls. Why? Well, because apart from the bathroom, there are almost no other rooms. The rest is one large room. As a result, a loft apartment thrives on the many different ways of arranging the various pieces of furniture.

Today we show you the advantages of loft apartments and how you can create a great atmosphere with just a few pieces of furniture.

Industrial furnishings: that's what counts

People used to work in the loft. Many hands produced endless goods on machines and assembly lines. The industrial, the manufacturing, the sometimes dirty - all of this can also be reflected in the furnishing style. The following elements are therefore the be-all and end-all in every loft:

  • Solid wood furniture: Rustic, robust wooden furniture is a witness to history. If you happen to come across vintage furniture, it will be perfect for your home. The furniture can also appear heavy and chunky. The focus is on durability. Thin and rickety furniture has no place here.
  • Metal: These old halls are production workshops. As they are generally associated with industrialization during the 19th century, metal ornaments and decorative elements are a must. Rivets and other ornaments on tables and benches, on seating, etc. emphasize the historical character of the industry.
  • Leather: With loft-style furniture, we rely above all on robust material. High-quality leather is particularly durable and has been in use for centuries. A leather sofa or a leather armchair are the perfect addition to your loft living room.
  • Glass: The perfect contrast to robust furniture in any home. Glass elements in the form of mirrors and vases add to the elegant charm. At the same time, glass can also support the durable character of other furniture in a very robust version, for example as a glass block

Loft furniture from old to new

Another advantage of the loft style in your own home: the first-class combination of old and new furniture. Do you own an old leather couch? Perfect! Then make it the centerpiece of your living room. The good thing about this living style: it doesn't need much. Minimalism is the key. In terms of the color palette, we mainly use dark colors. Black, dark brown, cool grey - these are all colors that you can use for industrial design in your home. Add a rough, dark brown coffee table made of solid wood, a coarse black rug... it gets really unusual if you use a cowhide as a rug, for example, or throw a lambskin over the back of the sofa for decoration. Use a metal floor lamp to bathe the entire scene in the right light. Give it a try - you can create a cool, minimalist atmosphere in just a few simple steps.
